Why the iPhone? Top 3 Reasons

Sometimes I get asked why the iPhone is such a remarkable device.  Yes, I get asked this.  After all, they say, there’s the Blackberry which is the pioneer of the smartphone.  It’s up there with Nokia and Palm.  What makes the iPhone special? I’ll give you the top 3 reasons why it has set the standard even as a latecomer to the smartphone world.

1. It’s Interactive

Never has a smartphone contained such a diverse set of technologies which allow the user to interact with it in so many different ways.  We used to text on our phones, then email, then photos… but with the iPhone, we can move it, shake it, tilt it, rotate it, touch it, talk to it, blow into it, and it can react to all of these distinct movement and actions.  It’s become a gaming platform because the device itself has become the controller, and the screen has replaced the computer monitor. Graphics are rich  and far beyond what any other device puts out there.

2.  It’s Truly Personal

Because it pairs so well with existing web technologies, it’s become a go-to gadget for everything.  The ads show this, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg.  There are literally thousands more information sources and services  available all in the palm of your hand.  As an iPhone user, you no longer have to file information away in your brain, it’s in your phone. Applications in your phone and your associated data are backed up when you sync with iTunes, and many apps offer quick and easy way to extract your data in a universal format.  The variety of apps that independent developers have created far surpass anything a massive software conglomerates would ever create by comittee.  As a result, everything is personal not generic.

3. It’s EASY

I managed to teach my mother how to use an iPhone in less time than it took to unpack it out of the box and boot it up.  The interface is so intuitive, and the design guidelines that govern the apps are so user-friendly, that it’s almost universally accesible.  Because of this, all of the web is in your phone.  There is no place it can hide anymore.  It’s no longer locked in a room dedicated to the pressed wood fiber hutch…it’s in your hands, everywhere you go.  If you haven’t had the power of the web in your hands (or pockets), you should try it.  You don’t know what you’re missing.
