I can across this a while back and thought I’d share it.  It may be old hat to some folks, but it’s always a good idea to refresh.  It’s easy to forget that Google ad auctions function a little differently than a typical auction (both on and off line).  A few important key points:

  1. You only pay the price of the ad ranked below yours
  2. Your ad relevance dramatically impacts your price
  3. Your ads should point to a clean and relevant landing page

It’s easy to fall back on old assumptions about ad auctions. It’s a great idea to review these concepts once in a while.
